That’s when you are more open to buying all sorts of delicious looking things that you don’t need, so make sure to eat before you shop. If you do your weekly shop on a weekend morning, then integrate a nice breakfast at home to your routine. Soon you’ll be shopping more wisely, as well as looking forward to your grocery shop each week because you know you’re getting a nice breakfast beforehand.
Take A Shopping List
Your best weapon against impulse buys during your weekly shop is to write down a shopping list of exactly what you need before you step foot into the shop – and stick to it! That way expensive extras won’t find their way into your trolley, and you’ll be buying exactly what you need, because you would have planned your next week carefully for your shopping list.
Use Up Old Items First
Before you go out shopping, check what you already have stock of in your cupboard and figure out meals that you can use the items in. This way your planned meals will be cheaper, since you’ll only have to buy a few items, instead of all the ingredients.
Keep An Eye Out For Specials
Before you shop, check out all the specials at your local shops, and try and plan meals around them. Also, if you can afford to stock up on something while it’s on special, then do, it will help you in later weeks. But remember to only stock up on stuff that can keep and won’t go off, or they will go to waste.
And lastly, budget how much you can afford to spend on groceries each week, and stick to it no matter what. If you find specials and shop in the right places, it’s completely possible to eat well on a budget.
